Growing up in Green Bay Wisconsin, I spent a lot of time in the 1960's watching the Packers play football at Lambeau Field. My family had season tickets. We were even at the "Ice Bowl" in 1967.  If you've ever been to Green Bay you know that the people there eat, sleep and breathe the Packers. In fact, the people of Green Bay own the Packers - the only NFL franchise with that kind of setup. Churches have been known to change the scheduled times of their services on Sunday to accommodate the Packer game.  People rent out their driveways for game day parking. You can't get a general admission ticket to a Packer game. The entire stadium is filled with season ticket holders and the waiting list for season tickets is 20 years long.

The team was named after the primary industry in Green Bay when the it was formed - meat packing. The field is named after Curly Lambeau, the founder, a player and the first coach of the Packers professional football team. A statue of him is located by the north entrance to the stadium complex along with a statue of legendary coach Vince Lombardi. Lambeau Field was built only for football and opened in 1957. In 2003 it underwent a dramatic refurbishing making it the ultimate NFL stadium and the only with a "retro" look like the old stadiums. Tours are offered year round.

Lambeau's Packer Hall of Fame is full of the rich history surrounding the three time Super Bowl Champ Packers (I, II, XXXI), one of the oldest teams in the NFL. Relive the glory days of  Coach Vince Lombardi and quarterback Bart Starr in the Ice Bowl or the fun and excitement of the Brett Favre years. You can also visit the Packer Pro Shop or eat at Curly's Pub.  Lambeau Field has been ranked #1 in the Sports Illustrated Game Day Experience Poll two years in a row.

Not only can you watch the Packers play there during the football season, you can host your own event year round. It has become a popular place to hold wedding receptions.

Who wouldn't want to geocache there?  There are a dozen caches within walking distance of the stadium and at least one on the grounds itself.

Even the geo-husband Alpha6 has become a fan, although he still follows his hometown six time Super Bowl Champ Pittsburgh Steelers. I've had to learn to live with black and gold everything and Terrible Towels.

So what are the chances that the two would actually meet in a Super Bowl?  I believe that would be the LAST ONE.  Super Bowl XLV.  Packers 31.  Steelers 25.  Haven't seen any black and gold for a while - just black and blue.

If you find yourself in the Green Bay area, visit Lambeau Field even if you are not a football fan because it is a very cool place - especially late in the season.
